In line with the announcement from H.H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), that 2019 will be the ‘Year of Tolerance’, Manar Al Maarifa Training and Management Consultants, one of the UAE’s leading management consultancy and specialized training firms, recently took part in the Ajman International Exhibition for Education and Training (AETEX 2019) at the Emirates Hospitality Centre in Al Jarf area in Ajman from the 5th to the 7th of February. The company participated in an interactive workshop to highlight the important role that education has in the continuing initiative to promote values of tolerance, brotherhood and acceptance. The workshop also served as an interactive platform to explore the role of education-based programs in supporting the country’s efforts to encourage the values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence – mirroring the principles of the UAE founding father Sheikh Zayed.
Promoted as ‘the role of education in establishing the values of tolerance and brotherhood,’ the workshop was attended by education professionals from various academic institutions and university students. Topics that were debated included effective methods teachers can adopt and promote tolerance to students; use of modern evaluation criteria; systems that help enhance student’s knowledge; the use of artificial intelligence and robot methodologies in the teaching and rehabilitation process; encouraging proactive use of social media to better reflect the values of tolerance. In addition, the platform also presented an opportunity to explore the importance of the continuous evaluation of a learner’s behavior – with strong emphasis on the results of performance and how to teach courses that consider religious, cultural and social differences through the implementation of interactive and practical activities that contribute to instilling tolerance among students.
Hajar Al Issa, Tolerance Knight, Founder and CEO, Manar Al Maarifa Training and Management Consultants, said: “Tolerance contributes to the enhancement of dialogue, peaceful coexistence and openness; principles that fall in line with UAE Vision 2021 and its goal to build a cohesive and vibrant society. We are committed to supporting teachers in any way we can, role models who have an important role in society in promoting tolerance, and the workshop further promoted this unique personality trait that is a prominent value instilled in Emirati society and considered to be a sustainable institutional endeavor.”
Al Issa added: “We are fully committed to building bridges of cooperation between the Ministry of Tolerance and helping to increase awareness about the importance of tolerance among the UAE community by instilling it further in education, media, culture, institutional work, policies and legislation in order to become a leading model for coexistence.”
